Central York's Greg Guidinger repeated as Division I Player of the Year after leading the Panthers to division and league tournament titles for the second consecutive season. The versatile 6-foot-7 senior has averaged about 19 points per game to headline the county's most dangerous lineup. Guidinger became Central York's all-time leading scorer in December. The Panthers were stunned in the District 3 Class 6A playoffs by rival Red Lion last Friday clinched a state tournament berth with Tuesday's consolation win over Central Dauphin.

Dallastown's Mike Grassel and Red Lion's Steve Schmehl split D-I Coach of the Year after both of their teams joined Central York in the York-Adams League tournament. Grassel's Wildcats lost talented guard Michael Scott to injury in January but battled their way into the playoffs. Schmehl's Lions put the exclamation point on their season with Friday's district win at Central York, but Red Lion had already made an impressive turnaround from 1-4 to 15-7 in the regular season.

York Suburban freshman Nasir Barnes was named Division II Player of the Year after immediately establishing himself as one of the top talents in the area. The lefty point guard has averaged a division-best 19 points per game, including a 40-point outburst at Eastern York in January. With Barnes and fellow all-star Kai Stryhn leading the way, the Trojans improved from 7-15 to 17-5 in the regular season. Suburban fell to 21-7 with Monday's district semifinal loss at Mechanicsburg.

West York's Garrett Bull earned top coaching honors in D-II after guiding the Bulldogs to a share of the division title for the third consecutive season. Bull's young team stumbled to an 0-4 start but won 13 of its next 15 games, including an eight-game winning streak that vaulted West York to the top of the standings. The Bulldogs were eliminated from the District 3 Class 5A tournament with a first-round loss to Muhlenberg.

Littlestown swept the individual awards in Division III, with senior center Christopher Meakin earning Player of the Year while John Forster took home Coach of the Year. The Thunderbolts went 14-0 in the division for the first time under Forster, and Meakin was one of the league's most dominant players on both ends of the floor, averaging 22 points per game wile piling up blocks and rebounds. He had 29 points and 16 rebounds on Tuesday as Littlestown (19-7) secured its Class 4A state playoff spot with a district consolation win over Boiling Springs.

Eastern York will be the only York-Adams League boys' team competing for a district title this week, as the Golden Knights reached the Class 4A final by beating top-seeded Berks Catholic on Tuesday. Red Lion, Central York, York Suburban, Littlestown and Delone Catholic have all qualified for the state playoffs.
