There are plenty of great spots to go ice skating around Cleveland this winter, whether you’re looking to skate outdoors at a festive holiday rink, or indoors at a year-round ice rink.

If you’re looking to go ice skating in Cleveland this winter, here are all the best local ice skating rinks (both outdoor and indoor) to check out.

Outdoor Ice Skating in Cleveland

If you’re looking for outdoor ice skating rinks in Cleveland, there are several options to choose from! Outdoor rinks are typically open from November through February.

1. Cleveland Foundation Skating Rink in Public Square

Public Square, Cleveland

Located in the heart of downtown Cleveland, this is one of the best ice skating rinks to visit this winter because of its location in the heart of Public Square, in the shadow of Terminal Tower and the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument.

The Public Square rink opens this year on November 24, 2023, and will remain open (mostly on weekends) through January 15, 2024 (various open dates;check here). Tickets are $12 per person, and include skate rental.

This is the best spot to skate during the holidays, as you’re also surrounded by all the lights around Public Square.

2. The Rink at Wade Oval

10820 East Blvd, Cleveland

Another one of the best outdoor rinks in Cleveland is The Rink at Wade Oval, located in University Circle.

This rink made with real ice is a great place to stop off between museum visits in University Circle, or after going to FROST (the annual holiday show) at the Botanical Gardens.

It opens on December 1, 2023, and is set to remain open Friday-Sunday through February 25, 2024. Tickets are $5 before 5 p.m. and $10 after 5 p.m., and all tickets include skate rental. More info and opening dateshere.

They are also offering free ice skating lessons every Saturday from 1-2 p.m.!

3. Crocker Park Ice Rink

30147 Detroit Rd, Westlake

Presented by the Cleveland Monsters, the outdoor ice rink at Crocker Park is located in Westlake, just outside Cleveland. The rink is in Union Square right in front of Regal Cinemas.

This rink opens on November 18, 2023, and will remain open through February 19, 2024. Skating costs $12, and includes skate rental. The rink is open daily, but you can check exact hours here.

Indoor Ice Skating in Cleveland

There are even more indoor ice skating rinks in and around Cleveland. Most of these rinks are open for more time throughout the year, so you can skate even during the spring and fall.

1. C.E. Orr Ice Arena in Euclid

22550 Milton Ave, Euclid

If you’re looking for indoor ice skating rinks near Cleveland, check out C.E. Orr Ice Arena in Euclid. This rink offers public skate sessions several times per week. The cost is $5, with an additional $3 for skate rental.

C.E. Orr Ice Arena also has themed events like a Valentine Skate and a Shamrock Skate to celebrate the holidays.

If you don’t know how to skate and want to learn, this rink offers 4-session training programs for all ages and skill levels to improve.

2. Winterhurst Ice Arena in Lakewood

Winterhurst Ice Arena is another indoor skating rink near Cleveland. This rink offers various activities like open skate, drop-in hockey, and skating lessons. More info on all options here.

The cost for open skate sessions is $12 for Lakewood residents, $15 for non-residents, and $10 for seniors. Skate rental is included, and these sessions are appropriate for all ages and skill levels.

(And if you want to just go to watch, they don’t charge an admission fee for non-skaters.)

3. Cleveland Heights rink

1 Monticello Boulevard, Cleveland Heights

After a huge rebuild, the Olympic-sized North Rink at the Cleveland Heights Community Center is finally reopen! The North Rink hosts public skate events every week. You can find the full schedule here.

The cost is $2 for student residents, $3 for adults and senior residents, and $5 for non-residents. Skate rental is an additional $2.

4. Hamilton Ice Arena in Rocky River

21018 Hilliard Blvd, Rocky River

Hamilton Ice Arena is another indoor rink option near Cleveland, located in Rocky River. This ice skating rink is open during the fall and winter months.

The rink offers open skate sessions for adults, as well as parent & tot skate sessions. Pricing depends on the session, but it’s generally $2 for children, $4 for seniors, and $6-$7 for adults. Skate rental is an additional $4.

5. Brunswick Auto Mart Arena

15381 Royalton Rd, Strongsville

Brunswick Auto Mart Arena is an indoor ice skating rink located in Strongsville, not too far from Cleveland.

This ice skating rink offers several public skate sessions each week, including some themed sessions. Some evening sessions also have a DJ. The cost is $15 per person (including skate rental) if purchased online, or $20 at the door.

6. Mentor Ice Arena

8600 Munson Rd, Mentor

This indoor ice skating rink in Mentor is open from October 2023 through April 2024. Mentor Ice Arena offers open skates, mostly on weekends; more info can be found here (and a calendar here).

And along with the main large ice rink, the Mentor Ice Arena also has a smaller studio arena. This small rink is usually open during public skates on weekends, and this is the best place for beginners, as they allow the use of push walkers on this smaller rink.

The cost to skate here is $9 for adults, $7 for students aged 18 and under, and $7 for seniors aged 65 and over. Skate rental is an additional $4.

You can also learn to skate at Mentor Ice Arena if you have a Learn to Skate USA membership. Regular classes are available for all ages and skill levels.

7. North Olmstead Ice Rink

North Olmstead Ice Rink is an indoor skating rink inside the North Olmsted Recreation Center that offers various events, including adult skate, open skate, and pick-up hockey.

For public skating events, the cost is $5 for adults, $4 for students, and $2.50 for seniors. Skate rental is an additional $2.50. This rink also offers skating lessons for all ages and skill levels. More info and schedules here.

8. The Pond Ice Rink in Chagrin Falls

Finally, The Pond Ice Rink in Chagrin Falls is another indoor ice skating rink near Cleveland. This rink offers public skate sessions for $12 per person, which includes skate rental and the use of gliders.

For families, the “Loaded Public Sessions” are a good deal. At $15 per person, you can enjoy open skating, skate rental, access to the rink’s game room, and $5 in game tokens.
